Beavan made a sign for her casual ensemble-her academy members and nominees gave her rather unkind glances when they were arrested-but she was happy to explain the origins behind her genius costume. She explained in the press room that the epic burning rhinestone skull is a tribute to “Mad Max”. In addition, as she said, “I feel at ease, as far as I am concerned, I am really dressed up.”
